Null contemplating a shrine's offer.

Shrines are a somewhat rare room type with a large statue that offers the player a deal in the form of a swirling red pickup in the center of the room. This pickup persists when the player leaves the room, so they're free to save it for later or ignore it entirely. There are a number of possible deals, each with a unique benefit and drawback that are often related in some way. Shrines are technically a type of Shop, so they can appear anywhere a shop can, aside from The Temple.

Deals

The deal is chosen randomly when the player first enters a shrine, though there are some conditions that prevent certain deals from appearing, such as weapon-related deals not appearing if the player doesn't have a weapon.

Description Notes
RenegadeSmall.png
Gain a random upgrade
Lose a random upgrade

Whichever upgrade is lost is still removed from the upgrade pool for the rest of the run, so it's impossible to get it again.

This is currently the only way in the game to lose an upgrade, and as such it has some unique interactions:

  • Losing Artifact, Plating, or Second Wind has no effect, making them ideal upgrades to get rid of.
  • Likewise, losing Quickening after using the revive has no effect.
  • Only applies when playing as Arena Blaster Losing Capacity while at more than 6 charge doesn't immediately lower it to 6, instead each room cleared removes 1 charge until it's back down to 6.
RenegadeSmall.png
More rooms this floor
Fight 1 more miniboss this floor
Generates a branch of grey rooms somewhere on the floor, with one of the rooms being a miniboss. All of the other rooms are normal rooms, though they may have room clear rewards. If this deal is taken after defeating the floor's boss, the extra miniboss can be skipped as the elevator is already open.
RenegadeSmall.png
Gain 6 power bombs
Decrease your bomb regen cap by 1

The types of power bombs gained are random. Any power bombs the player already has will not be overwritten.

Only applies when playing as Arena Blaster Does not appear for Arena Blaster.

RenegadeSmall.png
Gain health
for all your bombs

Takes away all currently held bombs and heals 1 HP for each, or HP parts if full.

Only applies when playing as Arena Blaster Does not appear for Arena Blaster.

Does not appear on Sudden Death.

RenegadeSmall.png
Save your weapon for the next floor
Lose it now

The weapon will appear in the starting room on the next floor with the same amount of ammo it had when the deal was struck. Disappears if the player leaves the starting room without picking it up.

This is particularly useful with cursed weapons since it not only breaks the curse, but also allows for picking up the cursed weapon a second time to get the damage and health bonuses again.

Only applies when playing as ChaosOnly applies when playing as Skully Does not appear for Chaos or Skully.

RenegadeSmall.png
Current ammo is set to 400% of the max
Ammo max is then halved

While at more than 100% ammo, ammo cannot be recovered and all ammo pickups are salvaged for either debris or max ammo. Blessing the weapon in this state does not lower it to 100% ammo.

Since the amount of debris gained from salvaging a weapon is based on its ammo percentage, scrapping a weapon immediately after taking this deal yields 8 times the normal amount of debris for a full-ammo weapon.

Only applies when playing as ChaosOnly applies when playing as Skully Does not appear for Chaos or Skully.

RenegadeSmall.png
Gain 20% extra damage
Lose half your HP

Damage bonus is additive. Lowers HP (not max HP) to half its current value, rounding up.

Does not appear on Sudden Death.

RenegadeSmall.png
Spawn a random unique weapon
No more weapon rooms

Weapon Troves no longer generate on future floors. It is unknown if this applies to The Temple.

Only applies when playing as ChaosOnly applies when playing as Skully Does not appear for Chaos or Skully.

RenegadeSmall.png
Your HP is raised by 5 (over max)
Your max HP is halved (rounded up)

imma be honest this one's so rare that i have NO clue how it interacts with other health mechanics

Does not appear on Sudden Death (i assume).

RenegadeSmall.png
Unlock a seal
Face death
Starts the Renegade bossfight. If victorious, the player gains Renegade's Seal and this deal never appears again.
