The Sword is an unlockable weapon that can be purchased from Kleines for 75000G after finishing at least 1 run (either by winning or dying). Swinging the sword deals damage at close range and fires a projectile that can hit targets at a distance. The melee part of the attack can hit multiple enemies at once, but can't hit through walls. The projectile is weaker and doesn't pierce enemies, but it's a useful alternative for when close-range attacks are too risky.
The Sword is also a defensive tool, as it destroys any enemy bullets caught in its swing. Large bullets and lasers can't be destroyed, but the sword still offers decent protection against most enemies, making it safer to get in close and maximize damage.
